You Get to Be Goldilocks

Are you waiting until you feel ready to make the changes you want in your life?

Will it ever be just the right time?

Are you accepting an okay life rather than trying to create the life you really, really want?

Are you starting to worry that it’s too late or you’re too old, but you also don’t want to regret not trying?

It’s time to act.

How do I know? Because I’ve been there too and know exactly what it feels like to have the fear of not being ready. I know how hard it can be to do the scary thing. But ready is just another feeling, and you can create it for yourself. Just like smiling even though you don’t really feel happy actually adds to your happy hormones, doing the things a “ready” person would do can help you find the feeling of ready.

Sometimes the only way to feel ready is to start.

Your first action? Say yes to yourself.

You’re not too old, too young, too fat, too much, too anything. You can still have, and are worth having, anything you want. So make that your first action: say yes to yourself, say yes to dreaming. Say yes to believing that you can create the life that’s just right for you. You’re Goldilocks in this scenario. You get to decide that what’s right for you is what’s right for you. You don’t have to sit in Mama Bear’s chair just because it’s a well made chair. If it hurts your butt, get up. Maybe you’re going to have to custom build something so that it feels just right.

Second action? Decide what you really, really want. Once you’ve accepted that you get to choose what you want, and be “picky” about getting it right, it’s time to do that choosing. The combo of giving yourself permission to dream and then deciding what that dream is, will give you energy and momentum. Your fear of not being ready might still be there, but your desire to finally feel fully at ease in your life will outweigh the fear.

Get still and intentional and listen to what your deepest, truest inner voice is telling you. Write it all down. Now is not the time to censor or to judge. Your truth is your truth and this is the information gathering stage. We want all the info before we craft our goals.

If you’ve given this a whirl and you’re having trouble tapping into your inner voice or letting yourself dream without judgment, stay tuned for the next post where we’ll dive deeper into this.
